Cracking down on people suspected to be holding dual Malaysian and Singaporean citizenship, the two countries have agreed to exchange data which allow them to check people crossing the border.

Singaporeans drivers pay heavy Malaysian fines

The majority of the traffic summonses issued by Malaysia to Singaporeans across the Causeway over the past three years have been settled. Some 73,630 traffic summonses were issued and amount of RM8 million ($3.4 million)of these were paid.

The deputy Prime Minister said that Malaysia would in all likelihood be updating its maritime laws to safeguard its status as a maritime and nation, and protect its coastal waters.
