Malaysia aims to attract the crowds in 2007

2007 is Visit Malaysia year, and Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said he was confident the country could achieve the target of attracting 20.1 million tourists during the year.

The deputy Prime Minister said that Malaysia would in all likelihood be updating its maritime laws to safeguard its status as a maritime and nation, and protect its coastal waters.

Fast food ads to be banned on children's TV

In a move to curb obesity and diet-related illnesses, Malaysia stood poised to ban some TV adverts for junk foods. The aim is to raise improve the countries awareness of the need for nutritious eating and good diet.

Bids raised for debt ridden lender

A three way bid for one of the countries largest lenders intensified as Malaysia's EON raised it's bid for the debt ridden lender, the countries fourth largest. Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi had previously appeared to back a rival bid for the lender.
