Citizens of Myanmar set up a village in Malaysia and passed themselves off as official United Nations refugees. District enforcement workers and civilian volunteers raided the tent village on Sunday. Catastrophic floods hit Johor twice in December and January displacing more than 100,000 people. Paramedics were trained and prepared to offer psychiatric treatment in the relief centers, but no one took advantage of the services. A spay-neuter campaign by the Selangor Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) is seeing great success in the Klang Valley. The campaign was started in 1993 and as of last October 2,969 female cats and 1,300 female dogs have been spayed. On Thursday, Malaysia’s Federal Traffic Police chief SAC II Nooryah Md Anvar said that one way to reduce the number of motorcycle fatalities would be to build lanes specifically for motorcycles nationwide along federal roads. This move is a welcome one since just last year there were 104,302 accidents where a motorcycle was involved throughout the nation.
