Malaysia will get more Saudi students

This year the total number of Saudis that are studying in Malaysia should double to between 500 and 600. Saudi Arabia is very interested in having its students study in Malaysia and expects the number to grow to 1000 in 2008. Some of the courses the Saudis are eager to study in Malaysia are information technology, engineering, medicine, and pharmacy.

Twenty years ago Malaysian students in the UK seemed to be disinterested and kept to themselves. Twenty years later, not much has changed. Why accept the scholarships? Why not just stay home in Malaysia? Are they afraid of stepping out of the comfort zone?
